John Mulholland (1898 - 1970), shown [at left] in 3 of the his historical magician personnae, was not only a performer, and historian, but is credited with being the first magical lecturer.

 

His book "Quicker Than the Eye" [first edition, shown left] was an examination of the history of magic.

 

"Beware Familiar Spirits" [above] was an examination of the spirit world.
